It’s Midnight: A Brief Conversation

Q: Who are you, where are you from?

IT’S MIDNIGHT: My real name is Ethan. I’m a 21 year old artist from Denver Colorado. I’ve been making music for 3 years now and have experimented with my sound several times, trying rap, hip hop, pop, disco, funk, and rock. I would still say I’m still trying to find MY sound but I’m having a lot of fun with the creative freedom and just making whatever the fuck I want to make. My inspirations are all over the place as well, ranging from lil skies and Juice wrld to John Mayer and Adele.

Q: Why do you make music?

IT’S MIDNIGHT: I really just enjoy making music. I look forward to the end of the day when I have no responsibilities and am able to work on music for a couple of hours. It’s what makes me happy

Q: Can you talk about the next single you’re releasing?

IT’S MIDNIGHT: I made this song for two reasons. The first reason is I was trying to decide what style my sound was going to be and I reflected on an earlier song I made called “Mama Lele” that I used a deep voice in and decided I wanted to try that again. But this led me to my next reason. I was thinking of rappers with deep voices and thought of pop smoke and was like “I wanna dry a drill beat out”. So yeah, with this release I gotta pay homage to pop smoke for making drill music which led me to try it out.

Q: What inspires your music? What’s your music about?

IT’S MIDNIGHT: I think it’s just the emotions I go through in my life. I really just create music based on how I am feeling. If I’m hyped up I make hype music. If I’m feeling down I make sad music. It really just depends on how I am feeling and how I express my emotions

Q: Where do you see you and your music career a year from now?

IT’S MIDNIGHT: I see myself having a manager. I see myself popping in and out of LA and NY meeting people, performing, networking etc. I see myself making the best music I’ve ever created. Not that I care about numbers but I see myself having more than 10k IG followers and multiple songs over 100,000 streams. I see myself being able to support myself off of my music. I see myself being able to live the life I want to live. Some manifestation type shit right there.
