An Interview With ILY Truly

Q: Where are you from?
ILY TRULY: I was born in Indiana but I lived my many teenage years in Kenosha, Wisconsin where I found music.

Q: Why do you like rapping?
ILY TRULY: I like rapping because it gives me life. I come from a rough lifestyle and making music gives me the freedom to be myself.

Q: What made you wanna rap?
ILY TRULY: My dad was an artist. He was murdered in 2015 and it really motivated
me to carry on his legacy. He dreamed of becoming the biggest thing in the world when it came to music.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
ILY TRULY: I see myself as a multi-platinum artist with a grammy. I want to sell out stadiums and do tours and huge things like NFL halftime shows and be on Jimmy Fallon.

Q: Who’s your biggest supporter?
ILY TRULY: My mom. She’s always there no matter what and it’s the same for her
if she needs me. We have been through the most together.

Q: Who’s your biggest inspiration?
ILY TRULY: Dwn2earth & Partynextdoor are my top inspirations. I have listened to
Party since I was a kid and Earth since 9th grade. They are musically ahead of their time and literally
have no skips. I know all their songs.

Q: What’s your best childhood memory?
ILY TRULY: When you could record from your phone on Soundcloud and me
and my homies would sneak the liquor and freestyle in my room late at night. Classic

Q: What’s your best fan moment?
ILY TRULY: Singing a few of my songs with a bunch of kids at this campground.
There were at least 10 or more of them and a bunch of them knew who I was. We took lots of pictures
and I spent the hour with them answering their questions and playing hide and go seek. Those types of
moments are truly what I live for.

Q: How was it like growing up for you?
ILY TRULY: I’m the oldest of 4 and my mom raised us as a single mother so
things were always tough. We were always in and out of homes in different cities and states and we were
even homeless over 3 times. I worked a lot growing up to help with the family and I was always out
grinding music at the same time the best I could. After High School, I chose to miss out on college and
dedicate everything to keeping my family good and pursuing music.

Q: Where did you come up with the name ILY Truly?
ILY TRULY: ILY Truly is pronounced “I Love You Truly”. It was my 2nd choice of a name. I originally went with “Tuesdayy” but that was wack so I really thought of something that would solidify what I stood for as an artist. When I say I love someone I mean it… Truly. It’s the perfect name for me and my craft as a whole.

Q: What do you do when you are not making music?
ILY TRULY: I try to live my life to the fullest when I’m not in the studio. I’m working on something else or I’m with family or out having fun.

Q: If you could tell your fans one thing what would it be?
ILY TRULY: Be yourself no matter who or what. Always be positive and have fun in everything even when you gotta get serious. If you want something go get it and don’t wait.

Q: What’s your dream festival to perform at?
ILY TRULY: Summer Smash is my dream show… And Rolling Loud!

Q: Is there anyone that passed away that you wish you worked with?
ILY TRULY: My dad, Freddie Mercury and Juice WRLD.
