Jae Skeese Is Going Up on the Heels of ‘Abolished Uncertainties’
Buffalo, NY continues to dish out the heat this year as Conway The Machine signee Jae Skeese releases his new album ‘Abolished Uncertainties’ via Drumwork Music Group.
In a city as hot as Buffalo is right now, it’s not easy to stand out as an artist when there’s so much talent around you. On ‘Abolished Uncertainties,’ Jae Skeese proves he is not one to be forgotten. Skeese kicks off the tracklist with “RVLVR,” which features Skeese dishing out relentless bars over a striking soul sample. The beat selection is great all across the project, the boom-bap drums and old piano samples giving it that distinctly Buffalo flair.
In 2021, Skeese signed with Conway the Machine’s Drumworks Music Group, and his new boss drops in halfway through the album for a verse on “Symmetry” which calls back to Skeese’s 2013 mixtape “In Search of Symmetry.” The track shows that Skeese can go bar-for-bar with his Buffalo contemporaries, and can bring a level of energy his peers cannot. Other features from Freeway, Jillian Haynesworth, Auragino, and Terre King keep the energy up towards the back end of the album, with Kota Savia’s vocals helping round out the introspective closing track “Auntie Crystal.”
The range on this album is sure to impress, and Skeese shows he is not afraid to take risks, as displayed by the jazzy saxophone flip on “Red Koolaid.” “Abolished Uncertainties” released just two weeks after a collaborative mixtape from Conway the Machine and Jae Skeese, as the Buffalo rapper shows us he is one of the most exciting acts to come out of New York in a while.
