Morgan Gold shares sultry debut album ‘MIDAS’

Chicago artist Morgan Gold has shared her debut album ‘MIDAS’. Recorded at Chicago’s 2Queen Studios, and produced and engineered by Gold’s collaborator and fiancé 730Skylar, ‘MIDAS’ finds Gold delivering a heartfelt performance atop stylish, detail-oriented production. Across the 13-song tracklist, ‘MIDAS’ immerses listeners in its glowing, layered sound, with versatile, sultry cuts that draw influence from R&B, hip-hop, and alt-pop.

Opener “I’m With You” sets the tone with rich, delicate production and elegant vocals. Powerful percussion and glowing, expansive synths create a solid foundation for Gold’s dynamic, gripping vocals. Showcasing her impressive range and breath control, “I’m With You” finds Gold putting her best foot forward as a vocalist at the forefront of the record. “True 2 Me” showcases her versatility as songwriter and performer, containing fast-paced, electrifying percussion that flirts with juke and trap. Here, driving bass and watery synths underscore Gold’s expressive vocals, making for a memorable listen overall.

One of our personal favorites from the record “Back Up” builds an infectious, energizing soundscape built upon layered synths and crisp percussion. Gold delivers an immersive vocal performance as her melodies blend cohesively with the slick production. Album closer “Home” finishes the album on a nostalgic, emotive note, with uplifting keys with trap-influenced percussion underscoring Gold’s dynamic, poignant vocal performance.

“Do you need a break from your beliefs?” Morgan asks as she lures you into a post-modern, dazzling utopia; a universe forever altered by the “midas touch”. “MIDAS”, the debut album of Morgan Gold, is nothing short of a delicate and ethereal experience. Executively produced by her longtime partner, 730Skylar, the duo shines brighter than ever. Staying true to their cinematic and entrancing aura, “MIDAS” sets the stage for an album unlike any other.

‘MIDAS’ is Morgan’s first full-length project, which consists of 13 tracks. “Sometimes, artists like me who are still on-the-rise are advised to steer clear of albums. The thing is, through all of these EP’s and experimentations, I’ve been waiting for that specific “album” sound. Once we made “BACK UP”, we knew we had achieved that ‘larger than life’ sound we were looking for. Keeping the ethereal spirit alive and well in music is our goal, and we’re proud to represent that with the album.” “MIDAS” will be released on all platforms on July 8th, 2022.
