Mike Wilder and Jake Bass connect with a potent cast of collaborators for D.E.A.P. (Detroit Emcees and Producers)

Detroit artists Mike Wilder and Jake Bass have shared a new compilation album called D.E.A.P., which stands for “Detroit Emcees and Producers”. An infectious, engaging set of songs that infuses a variety of hip-hop sub-genres including boom-bap, trap, lyrical hip-hop and more into a cohesive whole package, D.E.A.P. features Detroit heavyweights like Marvwon, Chavis Chandler, and more, and further proves that the city is up with the best as far as its hip-hop scene goes. It’s a masterfully produced and executed record that hand-picks a range of talented collaborators that all demonstrate organic chemistry between their instrumentation and lyricism, which gives the record a layered potency and much replay value throughout.

Songs like the sleek opener “Pray For Me” and the stylish “Allure” stand out for their glimmering, effortlessly stylish sound. Laid-back yet commanding and confident, songs like these give the album the heart of its character. D.E.A.P. also has its hard-hitting moments, such as on the trap-influenced “Roll Witta Clique” and the ominous “Who’s Who”, which bring powerful sonics and sharp vocals to the table and captivate the listener in the process.

D.E.A.P. finds all artists involved bringing blazing performances that demonstrate focus, clarity, and prowess. A record that further proves Detroit’s position as one of the top city’s in hip-hop, D.E.A.P. marks a strong release from early 2023 for Mike Wilder and Jake Bass. Wilder, who executive produced this album alongside Jake Bass originally got his start in the industry by co-producing Eminem’s debut album Infinite in 1996. He also co-founded the prolific music company NUKID, LLC alongside Marky Bass.
