Who are you and where are you from?

I go by the name of KWEZZ. Which is an abbreviation of my real name Marquez. I was born in Dublin, Georgia. A few hrs outside of Atlanta. But I’ve been living in Tucson, Arizona Since I was young.

How has living in Tucson inspired your music?

It’s definitely expanded my music taste a bunch but as far as inspiration goes, I feel like Tucson has made me into such a isolated person lol but if I were to live in Georgia still I’d probably not be here today or I wouldn’t be the same person.

How did you develop your sound?

I’ve developed my sound by not doing the same thing over and over again like I would try to do different genres of music & even take time away from music and just live my life therefore I have stuff to talk about and just listening to music period

What sets you apart from other musicians?

I think that I have a certain energy I put into my music that makes me different. That doesn’t make me better or worse than anyone but I think that the energy, sound, vibe, whatever you wanna call it, can’t be copied.

Could you talk about the Dark Cloud EP and the depressing overtones throughout the project?

The lead song is called “Voices” and at the time I was going through a lot & with that I thought that I couldn’t talk about it with anyone so I always had that voice in my head overthinking about everything and losing myself. Music was the perfect way to get that bad energy out for the time being. And later in the EP there are some more hype songs & I wanted to add those because there are times where I actually feel good. Like I’m gonna have a good day today or whatever it is.

Where do you see yourself a year from now?

A year from now I’ll mostly just have more collabs, more visual content, just elevation all together really.
