Envy Ojay Proves He Is Here To Stay With “ou”
Philadelphia MC Envy Ojay has a hit with his latest single “ou”. The track, produced by Lambda, Raf, and Project, showcases the 19-year-old’s sonic range with layered harmonies over a dark beat with booming 808s.
The MC has been inspired by his affinity for European culture and pop singing roots to create a product that lies between the two. His darker and more rap inspired records pay homage to London rapper Lancey Foux, who he just finished touring with. He combines that with a layered pop vocal style that creates a very distinct and recognizable sound.
The track “ou” itself draws inspiration from Envy’s early life and is a testament to how far he has come and how far he is going.
“I was an overlooked kid that never got any girls,” he said. “I’ve now flourished into the epitome of a superstar that can’t keep girls off [me].”
He says that the hook “Ou, I got cool” was inspired by his transformation into the confident artist that he is today. His plans are to keep releasing new singles that will lead up to his debut album that has yet to be titled. After that, the sky’s the limit for an artist of Envy Ojay’s caliber.
