Cowboykillerr and 5G Team Up on “Purgatory”

Philadelphia has been a breeding ground for underground hip-hop stars over the past couple of years. On Purgatory, two giants from the city, Cowboykillerr & 5G, come together to flex their innovative sound and undeniable chemistry. With 10 tracks, this project is filled with distorted instrumentals and throat-cutting flows.

Cowboykillerr and 5G sound like they’re meant to be on a song together. Their styles mesh together to create an array of clever bars delivered with speed and purpose. The intro song “RAPTURE” is a perfect example of this. The duo gets braggadocious over a hectic instrumental provided by producer Sayda. This track is riddled with larger-than-life 808s, the legends from the keystone state prove their uniqueness and vocal talents on this track and that’s just the tip of the iceberg on Purgatory

The textures on this project are so detailed. No matter how off-kilter the instrumental is, the two vocal titans are able to glide over these instrumentals. They find unique pockets and dive deep into them, creating otherworldly melodies.

“NO BROTHERLY LOVE” is a stand-out on the project that allows Cowboykillerr and 5G to showcase their talents in crafting a menacing song. The instrumental provided by Isolated Figure is a collage of chimes and spacious drums, providing an atmosphere that allows the Philadelphia natives to their creativity when it comes to flows.

Purgatory is a project in a category of its own. CowboyKillerr and 5G came together to create something that no one can take away from them, an album that stands out in a crowded space.
