Young Nudy “DR. EV4L” – Album Breakdown

Young Nudy is one of the staples of the Atlanta trap scene and one of the most innovative artists in it. Nudy makes his comeback with his sophomore studio album titled “DR. EV4L”

The Atlanta native has been building a name for himself with his cousin 21 Savage over the last 5 years and has carved a very specific lane for himself that no one seems to be able to replicate. With the release of his new album, “DR. EV4L”, a dark and moody selection of trap sounds. The album consists of a tight 13 tracks and it shows Nudy was looking for quality over quantity because not one track on this misses.

The RCA records signee recruited mostly unknown producers for the album and honestly that isn’t a bad thing because the entire record has a very consistent backdrop for Nudy to lay his usual memorable one-liners and distinct vocals over. You’re not being distracted by different producer tags every 3 minutes. Fellow Atlanta native and frequent collaborator COUPE produced most of the record. He and Nudy have a great chemistry together.

The album has only 3 features, G Herbo, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Nudy very much made this project his own and it might just be my favorite project from him. The standout track and feature has to be G Herbo on “2Face”. Both of the emcees make their mark on the eerie instrumental. Some of the other tracks to check out first are “Perc 30” and “Yellow Tape” with Lil Uzi Vert.

Overall this project is super enjoyable and consistent. Its easily one of my favorite projects of the year and is a pleasant reminder of just how good Nudy is. This album is definitely one to check out and we can only hope he receives more recognition and in turn finally makes that move into the mainstream. This one is gonna be on repeat for a while.
