Wifisfuneral “Smoking Mirrors” – EP Breakdown
wifisfuneral follows up his 2020 debut album “Pain” with his new 7-track EP “Smoking Mirrors”. A short but impactful EP that covers all the styles & aspects of the 2018 XXL Freshman’s music and what makes him so special.
“Smoking Mirrors” is an entirely solo project and that’s something wifisfuneral is easily able to pull off this far in his career. wifi is always the star on his projects so he doesn’t need features and that’s just the case on this new EP. The project features production from frequent collaborator Nvbeel on three tracks as well as jetsonmade, Ye Ali, Harry Fraud, Apollo Young, and Andy Ayaz. The standout tracks on the first few listens for me are “New Order Red”, “CC Demon”, and the Harry Fraud-produced “ScratchUrBack”. Hearing wifi over more production from Harry Fraud would be dope because this track just wasn’t long enough for how good it was.
Overall, “Smoking Mirrors” is a great EP that flows like an album and it shows how much the Florida rapper truly cares about his craft. It fits in seamlessly with his other projects. The EP was long enough to hold us over for now but we can’t help but hope a new album will follow soon! In the meantime, we have 7 new tracks to spin along with the other gems in his discography.
