I recently got the pleasure of chopping it up with the talented Jay Safari. This young talented artist is really laying down the foundation, to build himself a promising career. Already amassing over 100k monthly listeners on Spotify, there’s no slowing down this rising star. DS – Where are you from? 

JS – Ocala, Florida.

DS- How did you get the name Jay Safari? 

JS – I came up with it back In the Era of “Cool Internet Usernames”. Jay is my nickname and Safari just sounded smooth.

DS – When did you start recording music? 

JS – Around 2018, on my iPhone and Apple headphones.

DS – Where do you draw creative inspiration from when you’re recording? 

JS – It’s mostly whatever comes to my head or whatever I’m dealing with. I try to draw out emotions without being too serious.

DS – How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never listened to your music before? 

JS – Gangster chic. 

DS – What’s your favorite song you’ve put out so far? 

JS – From my first Project, it’s called “Selfish”.

DS – What’s a day in the life like for you right now? 

JS – Its mostly work—being independent is like having 15 jobs in 1. If I’m not working on anything music related, I like to hoop. Or just kick it.

DS – Biggest piece of advice for your fans and listeners?

JS –  My biggest piece of advice would definitely be just do whatever makes you happiest. As cliche as it sounds it can be hard to block out all the noise and focus on yourself, so sometimes having the mindset of putting yourself first isn’t bad.
