An Interview With: Reid Adams

Q: What’s up bro! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Reid Adams: I am a 27-year-old multi-genre artist, producer and audio engineer. I moved to Atlanta from
Rhode Island when I was 11 years old and continue to show musical influence from both New
England hip-hop and Atlanta trap. Aside from working on music directly, I am the co-founder
of a startup, Artisan Companies, which focuses on creating solutions for independent content
creators that will level the playing field and give them opportunities which would otherwise not
be available to them.

Q: How long have you been making music?
Reid Adams: I have been creating songs as an artist for about 2 years, but making music is something I
have done my whole life. As a kid, my family had this wooden piano in the basement and my
neighbor was a piano instructor. I began taking lessons at a young age and eventually this led
me to play other instruments, such as drums and guitar. When I was about 16 my friend
downloaded a bootleg version of FL Studio onto my laptop (sorry FL) and I was immediately addicted. I produced and sold beats online under different aliases up until about 2 years ago when I decided to focus on teaching myself to perform and engineer vocals.

Q: Describe your music style!
Reid Adams: The music I am creating as an artist is a blend of influence from different genres I grew up
listening to. The production is likely to contain a relaxed guitar melody over trap or pop drums,
with vocals that resemble an edgy mix of modern pop and hip-hop performers. While I do not
release every song I make, I do like to experiment with different genres depending on my
mood or inspiration. I have a ton of unreleased music that includes hip-hop, pop punk, R&B,
acoustic songs and more. I just like to make music and every time I attempt a new genre or
style, it’s like a new challenge.

Q: Who are some of your influences?
Reid Adams: This is always a tough question because I grew up listening to so many different artists and
genres. When I was young, my parents would listen to bands like The Beatles and The Doors
and my grandfather would come over and listen to big band music for hours while he played
his harmonica. When I started discovering music for myself, I was drawn to bands like
Blink-182, Linkin Park and Green Day. I wasn’t really introduced to rap or hip-hop until
somebody I rode the elementary school bus with copied me a CD of ‘The Eminem Show’.

When I moved to Atlanta in 2005, I was introduced to a whole world of hip-hop music I had
never heard. At that time southern hip-hop was emerging and evolving like never before into
the global genre it has become today. Over the next few years I was introduced to some of
my favorite artists such as Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Akon, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Young Jeezy, Big
Sean, Mac Miller, Kid Cudi, Kanye West and more. And that’s the long answer.

Short answer, I would say my biggest musical influences today in no particular order are Post
Malone, 24KGoldn, Mike Posner, Iann Dior, Mac Miller, Huey Mack, Kane Brown and Machine
Gun Kelly.

Q: Talk to us about your upcoming single!
Reid Adams: My upcoming single is a hip-hop song titled ‘Same Damn Song’ and is set to release on all
streaming platforms December 17, 2021. I wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered this song
myself. The production was done by RIAA certified multi-platinum and diamond producer,
DannyEBTracks. This song was made to be played in a club, bar or anywhere else you may
choose to party and is influenced by artists such as Mike., Arizona Zervas and Huey Mack.
The song can be pre-saved now on Spotify using the link below.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Reid Adams: In 5 years, I plan to look back and be happy with how much I have improved and how far I
have come. That’s always the main goal. I plan to continue learning and growing as an artist
and expand my audience to a national level. I also plan to establish a one-of-a-kind
independent label to partner with artists and producers around the globe, while expanding the
solutions offered by Artisan Companies to include studio space, mobile applications, software
plugins, professional management and more.
