A Sit Down With Charleston Artist, Project Page

What made you decide to get started with music?

Music has always been a big part of my life. I didn’t get involved with instruments until about 10 years old when I heard Elvis for the first time. I thought to myself, “huh, that’s pretty cool” and it’s been a wrap since. but I started recording and rapping once I was about 18.

What is your artist name and how did you come up with it?

Project Page is my artist name, it was a nickname given to me in high school, and it just kind of stuck. It was already natural and I thought it would be a good stage name so I kept it.

Where are you from, and how has your place of origin affected your music?

I’m from Charleston, South Carolina and we have a lot of reggae/beach music and groups down here along with a big underground rap scene, I wouldn’t say living here has impacted my music much at all too he completely honest with you.

Who are your biggest influences music wise?

My biggest influences music wise would have to be Chief Keef and Elvis Presley l, two GOATs, but in my music you hear much more of a Chief Keef influence. I remember listening to him when he first came out in 2012 and just some of the stuff he did on the mic sonically, I believe is huge in the way rappers make music today.

What is your biggest accomplishment in music to date?

My biggest accomplishment musically to date is probably being about to say I have over 7 million streams over all platforms. I took a break for a while but when I saw that I had 6.8 million streams that kicked me into a new gear, it just re ignited that desire.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?

This year I hope to be consistent. I want to drop a lot of music videos and maybe even some vlogs on my YouTube channel. I already have a lot of music recorded so I’m gonna try to really focus on content and getting my followers on all platforms up. That’s my goal to increase my following substantially in the next 12 months.

Who’s your dream feature?

My dream feature would probably again be Chief Keef. I view him as one of the most if not the most influential rap artist for this next generation and even my generation to a degree. So to have him on a song would be pretty special to me.

Tell me a little about a past project of yours that means a lot to you...

BTO the mixtape was a big project for me it showcased a lot of my skills rapping and engineering I think. And this next project coming up is basically just a more refined version my myself then.

Tell me about a future project that you have coming up...

My next project is BTO II, it’s going to be a 10 song tape with about 5 or so features on it, all Charleston rappers, and like I said before it’s a more refined project page. I’m always aiming to advance my skill set and I really love experimenting on tracks but I do have a bread and butter “Project Page flow” and I didn’t stray too far from that. It’s a great tape that drops 06/30/23, so make sure you stay tuned in for that and follow me on Instagram at @projectpage843.
