Drakeo The Ruler “Thank You For Using GTL” Album Recorded Over Jail Phone

Drakeo the Ruler has continued to prove himself to be one of Los Angeles’ most unique talents. He just dropped his new album Thank You For Using GTL. The entire eighteen track project was recorded over the phone from Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles, California. Nearly two days after Drakeo was made the Sunday LA Times Calendar cover back in March of 2018, he was brought into court and charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and several counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Drakeo was acquitted of the murder and attempted murder charges in July of 2019, but the district attorney refiled the two charges in September. He is currently awaiting a new trial but is facing delays due to COVID-19. Despite being in prison and facing the possibility of life in prison, Drakeo still managed to team up with JoogSzn and put out a full album with features from Rio Da Yung Og, ALLBLACK, and Lil 9.

Joog Szn produced most of the album, and it was engineered by Mixed By Navin. The sound quality on Drakeo’s vocals sound clearer than most other jail phone raps. Regardless of the circumstances, the Thank You For Using GTL is incredible and is definitely worth giving a listen.
