Dell G Talks The Hip Hop History In The Bay Area That Helped Inspire His ‘Niners Forever’ Album

Underground rap mainstay Dell G has been making music since 1991 — but has been a San Francisco 49ers fan since 1984.

Naturally, both his love for Hip Hopp and the 49ers would collide sooner or later, and since 2012, he has been making anthems to celebrate his love of both. Dell G recently delivered his 10-track compilation album Niners Forever, which aptly displays his years-long dedication to crafting Hip Hop anthems outlining his support for the championship-winning Bay Area-based NFL franchise.

In a recent interview with Loading Magazine, Dell G went into depth about the two-year process of crafting the album and how Hip Hop history in the Bay Area influenced the creative production of the record.

“The Process all began in 2020 where I had to gather producers and beats then connect with all the artists in 2021 where the recording began and completed the album in December 2022,” Dell G said.

“This album meant a lot as I wanted to unify the fan base, artists worldwide, and bring families together for a great time for Niners events nationwide.”

Dell G said the project made sense considering the deep roots of Hip Hop within San Francisco and the Bay Area at large.

“Hip Hop is well known in San Francisc,” Dell G said in part. “Hip Hop is known worldwide. 49ers is well known in San Francisco. 49ers is known worldwide. Putting two entertaining groups together will make a Super Entertainment Group. No other teams fan base has artists collaborating to bring a great time for those tailgaters, listeners, kids, team players, etc.”

Following the release of Niners Forever last December, Dell G has stayed busy buy releasing numerous singles such as the acoustic version off his “Stay Faithful,” collaboration with Dave Canal. Dell G is also working on the sequel to Niners Forever, as well, in addition to crafting his upcoming Hip Hop project Community Service.
