Las Vegas Native Anima Red Unveils His Reflective New Project, ‘Mixed Emotions’
Throughout history, many have tried and failed to come up with the exact science to 100% accurately explain how the human brain works. Emotions are unquantifiable and are hyper-specific to each individual, leaving a lot of grey area to explore. What is a bit more tangible is exactly how to do deal with those emotions, which also varies from person to person. Hailing from Las Vegas, rising rapper Anima Red chooses to work through his with music, which has resulted in his engaging debut album, Mixed Emotions.
At 7-tracks, Mixed Emotions finds Anima showcasing his full arsenal as he tunes into a different sound on each track. Utilizing rapid pace flows over west-coast inspired production on, “Misunderstood,” right after channeling his inner rock star over Indie Rock guitars and drum breaks on, “Almost,” does a brilliant job of highlighting the versatility of Anima while also giving a glimpse into what sounds he may choose to single in on. Other standouts include, “Punk,” an anthemic Hip-Hop banger, “Need Space,” a poignant Indie-Rock inspired record and, “Lucki,” the Ace Woah assisted standout that finds one of the two times Anima chooses to bring in a feature, which results in a festive song.
