Yadda Man Turns Vulnerability Into Lyrical Super Powers On ‘Jacket Weather’ Album
Yadda Man has forged a pathway from the Midwest directly into the inner workings of his mind with his latest LP entitled Jacket Weather.
The 10-track album combines Yadda Man’s affinity for lyrical mayhem with purposeful features and in-pocket production, which in turn creates a therapeutic Hip Hop safety net for listeners.
Along with he and Chicago MC Mick Jenkins’ retrospective-themed collaboration “Do You Remember,” Yadda Man connects with Omaha-based vocalist Ria Gold on the standout track “Cream M.D.C.T” and also breathes fire on the Dizzy Wright-assisted record “Outta Sight.”
On tracks such as the opening record “Bundle Up,” Yadda Man, whose real name is Kenyatta Thomas, retraces the steps he took, ultimately leading to a rift between him and his father. In fact, it’s on that same track where Yadda Man opens up about his move from his native Ohio to Omaha over ten years ago and how difficult the transition was for him.
“Ugly chick from the block said she was the prettiest thing in the city/I thought Omaha had no women/So uncomfortable I broke down over a box of Popeyes chicken,” he raps.
Then, there are records such as “Cold World,” where Yadda Man details the treacherous tale of deceit that has unfurled throughout his life’s journey thus far. The vulnerability and genuine artistry Jacket Weather exudes brings Yadda Man’s productive 2022 campaign full circle. In addition to releasing the deluxe edition of his fan-favorite project JiMMY, Yadda Man has delivered several standout visuals including the video for his breakout single “Top Tier,” which has amassed well over 15,000 views in mere months.
Even more importantly, the album marks the dawn of a new chapter in Yadda Man’s career as Jacket Weather serves as his third joint-effort release between his Off Brand Music Group imprint and former Maybach Music Group artist Stalley’s fledging label Blue Collar Gang.
Since delivering his debut release in 2019, he’s gone on to open for artists such as Wocka Flocka, Jarren Benton, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, among others. Yadda Man has also received co-signs from artists such as Slim Jxmmi and Kato The Producer. Yadda Man can also confidently say he was offered a spot as an opening act for 2000s Hip Hop legend Afro Man ahead of his recent Presidential campaign announcement.
