Up-and-coming Bronx Artist Money Im Countin Releases New Visual For “Down On My Knees”

“Competence breeds confidence.” This is Bronx-raised artist Money Im Countin’s philosophy, and the work and career he’s built so far embody both competence and confidence to staggering levels. Named DARK Magazine’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year with a number of his singles going viral, it’s no question that M.I.C. has commanded attention across the internet and world of music. He only continues to make waves with the recent release of his latest visual for his viral single “Down On My Knees”.

Growing up in New York, Money Im Countin was raised around music. “Being born in the birthplace of hip-hop, it’s hard not to be inspired daily,” M.I.C., born Mikál Smith, says, including artists such as 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Nipsey Hussle, and Cyhi the Prynce on his list of inspirations. After starting his music career at 21, his natural attraction to the craft has truly shone through, drawing widespread praise to his music. His work has been highlighted by radio stations from Hot 97 to Power 105.1, and has notably been reposted by both DMX and Jadakiss. He’s also performed and opened up for a countless number of artists, from A Boogie Wit The Hoodie to Jim Jones. On top of creating his nonprofit organization, the M.I.C. (Mentors Influence Children) Program, he is even the C.E.O. of his own independent record label Fortune 5hunnid Records. This list only scratches the surface of the up-and-coming artist’s vast record of accomplishments. “I want to be influential,” he says. “Legacy is extremely important.”

With authentic lyrics pulling from his own experiences growing up in the Bronx and a unique sound that balances both smooth and aggressive tones without ever locking him into one genre, Money Im Countin is setting himself apart from the rest. His drive and passion for the craft put him en route to becoming one of the top artists and songwriters in the industry. “Listen, take criticism, and take advice,” he advises other artists, speaking to the values he applies to his own career. “Apply the knowledge.” Now, his goal is to continue expanding his visions and make music that impacts his fans’ lives. The visual for “Down On My Knees” is an emotional and personal one, featuring guest appearances from the Alumni Ensemble of Harlem and the Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem (who has previously collaborated with Kanye West). Be sure to tune in for the video and all of M.I.C.’s upcoming projects! You won’t want to miss any of it.
