Milwaukee’s underground hip hop scene has been recently stirring with some life. Not usually known for producing hip hop acts, the city might be finally putting together some promising talent. Two of Milwaukee’s most known music gurus have decided to come together to form a new locally run podcast called “The Platform”.
Music Executive Mech “Digi.Mech” Harper, well known as Mech (meech), has made some significant contributions to be breeding some Milwaukee’s next up stars. Mech currently manages the MT Twins and Lil Saucy under his self-owned label Engine Records. Joining him as co-host of the podcast is Milwaukee’s music marketing guru KB “The Playmaker” Barrell. Barell has become one of the most-sought after independent branding and marketing promoters in the game. At the head of his company Customs By The Playmaker, Barrell’s best work takes place in the streets, focusing his efforts on marketing on the ground. The marketing guru is also an important puzzle piece to Blackout Entertainment, a rising label of artists also from Milwaukee’s local music scene. Together, the co-hosts have been developing an agency (MK Music Agency) to encourage solidarity between artists.
“The Platform” will be filmed live from the podcast city at The Compound in Milwaukee. The podcast will occur weekly and the hosts will discuss the hottest independent artists with videos in the Midwest. The podcast will also have live music reviews, interviews, merch giveaways, and live performances from the hottest independent artists & comedians in the game.
