Raymond Revel delivers bright single, “Take A Break”

“Take A Break” is the anti-hustle culture anthem the world needed, and Raymond Revelbrings it with such gusto. A true breath of fresh air given the great celebration of endless options. He diminishes those options in a very polite and gentle demeanor. With the 90s revival now in full swing, it was perhaps inevitable that this would come around – a celebration of doing less. Far from the slacker ethos, this is a self-care ethos. So much attention is paid to the smallest of details, the mundane, rather than those big-picture goals. Honestly what could be more important than the self is the question Raymond poses to the listener. Wrapped up in beguiling neon-hued splendor, there is a lot to love in the atmosphere itself.

An economic little groove playfully starts things off. His lyrics focus on the main focus that so many people experience – one of endless scrolling, endless updates on information that ultimately is not relevant to one’s life. The verses focus on not wanting to fall behind. Quite deliberately the song suggests that this might be a bit hard on the soul, the need to constantly observe others. Instead, when the chorus suggests “Take A Break” it is a relief. Much kinder than the online insult of “touch grass” the work feels soothing, even inspiring in its own adorable sort of way. With that infectious hook neatly buttressing his treated vocals, there is clearly a compassion resting right at the core.

Raymond Revel delves into a wonderful, carefree world on the poignant “Take A Break”.
