Mitchy Slick, Who Inspired Drakeo The Ruler, Is On Tour With West Coast OG’s

San Diego artist Mitchy Slick is embarking on a tour with an elite company of longstanding lyricists including Planet Asia, Fashawn, Sir Veterano and Flii Stylz.

The Fresh Yard Tour began on June 30 in Oakland and will travel throughout the entire month directly into the grand finale at The Fresh Yard boutique in San Diego on July 31.

Mitchy Slick joins the tour fresh off the release of his 23 Blocks project, which arrived last year and included guest features from K Bizz, Ise B, Big Wy and more. In celebration of the tour, Mitchy Slick teamed up with Sir Veterano for their cruise-ready anthem “In My Elco.”

Since Mitchy Slick delivered his debut album Trigger Station in 2001 he’s gone on to release nearly 20 different projects and collaborate with artists such as G Perico, Jay Worthy and Nick Cannon, among others. He also collaborated with late Crenshaw-bred rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2017 on the track “Full Time” which appeared on Hussle’s notorious Slauson Boy 2 mixtape.

Late L.A. rapper Drakeo The Ruler dedicated his Ain’t The The Truth album track to “Mitchy Slickster” in an effort to pay homage to the legacy he’s built. Mitchy Slick actually wrote about the bond he managed to build with the Stinc Team rapper before his unfair and untimely demise in a recent Instagram post.

“Never met the youngster in person but he tapped in and FaceTimed a Nigga when he hit the city unlike some niggas that I’ve actually known for years,” he wrote. “He made the song named after me and that was big homage too.Appreciate that especially comin from an artist from this newer generation. All I can say to the young homies is tap in wit your G homies for game and guidance. With age comes wisdom.A real G always got a few things that can help you get to your full potential before something misfortunate gets in the way. This rap shit is different now days so you gotta move different. Why you think I barely do shows in my city. #TRIV

During his latest interview with No Jumper, the Daygo native discussed several major moments from his 20-year career including his early collaboration with The Game, YG, Joe Moses, Jay 305, RJ Mr. LA and AD, his thoughts on XXXTENTACION being knocked out during his visit to Daygo, living in the Bay Area, L.A. and more.
