Over the last 3 years, rising Arizona artist Lil QWERTY has been silently working on his craft. After bursting on to the scene with his 2017 project, Jumpdrive., QWERTY largely left the limelight, opting to develop at his own pace. Looking to get back into the action, he checks into our pages for the first time with his tranquil new video for, “RIP Kimbo.”
Directed by Zane Berry, “RIP Kimbo,” is a calm, engaging video that finds QWERTY pondering his thoughts among of the backdrop of the Sedona mountains. Flanked by soothing surroundings, QWERTY looks comfortable and at peace and he unloads an array of different thoughts and updates on him and his life. Produced by Tech Club, the record itself pairs with the aforementioned visuals perfectly as the Tempe native utilizes his silky smooth flow to touch on topics such as expectations from family members, moving cities to realize your dreams, and then ultimately the theme of the record, having to reinvent yourself if need be. After taking a brief hiatus, “RIP Kimbo,” serves as the perfect comeback record for QWERTY.
