FRESCO TREY SHARES MOVING NEW EP “HEARTBREAK DIARIES”

Memphis sensation Fresco Trey returns with a romantic, thoughtful new EP, Heartbreak Diaries. Last week, Trey teased the release with an epic trailer on Instagram, and now the seven-song project is here. Featuring standout singles like the “Feel Good” with Lil Tjay and “Fresh Off a Heartbreak,” as well as “Alone,”. Rich with textured, touching tracks, the EP is sure to delight fans of the burgeoning melodic phenom —and to win over new ones.

The release kicks off with the summer anthem “Feel Good,” on which Trey introduces his blend of wry wordplay and undeniable penchant for catchy melodies. “Ay, if love hurts, I guess I love pain,” he sings. On “Alone” he demonstrates his knack for arena-ready pop-melodies. It’s a track that shows why Post Malone invited Trey on tour in 2019—filled with massive guitar solos, anthemic choruses, and intense emotional honesty, it’s the sort of song that has made Trey an instant sensation.

Heartbreak Diaries wraps with one of Trey’s most introspective songs to date, “Imagine.” The track finds Trey wandering through the memories of his life, reckoning with his mistakes and looking for a path forward as he works through past traumas. His vulnerability and sincerity give fans something to latch onto.

Trey has quickly emerged as one of rap’s great new melody-makers, with an uncanny knack for marrying otherworldly pop with hard-hitting production and inward-looking lyrics. He was recruited to play college basketball but opted to pursue his passion for music back in 2018. Since then, he’s captivated fans and tastemakers alike with his pensive, yet banging tracks. Lyrical Lemonade has already raved that “not many music fanatics will have to hear anything more than ‘Feel Good’ to know that this man has some serious talent.” In the wake of his 2021 track “Luv Don’t Live Here,” HipHopDX claimed, “Fresco Trey is coming into his own.” Trey has also garnered coverage from VIBE, Billboard, HotNewHipHop, and more.

All the buzz has only made Trey hungrier, though. Never one to rest on his laurels, he turned early success into one of the year’s strongest projects. Heartbreak Diaries is at times lighthearted and breezy, but at others it’s deeply emotional and intense, capturing the highs and lows of his dawning superstardom. Still, there’s a sense it’s just the beginning of his journey—that there’s still more moving, vibrant rap songs for Fresco Trey to write, even more ears to reach.
