IYABO dropped “For When The Sky Falls” and it’s a break from reality that we all desperately need.
99% of what I cover is strictly rap music, so it was an absolute blessing being able to cover Iyabo.
IYABO dropped “For When The Sky Falls.” Her music brings extreme comfort. Iyabo’s voice to me is soul food. Songs like “Tonight,” and “How many” wrap around you like a backwood leaf, and allow you to breathe and relax. Other songs off the project like “Let me Bleed” lull you into being comfortable when she uses her lyricism and flow to sting like a wasp.
It’s hard to put her in a box but I would classify her as a hybrid rapper who fuses alternative R&B and soul.
Inspired by some of the greats like Lauren Hill, & Akanbi, she touches on her life story as a black and female artist. “For when the sky falls” which is produced by DJ SAD and Franky Pane is a true piece of art. Created during the pandemic, she shows off her ability to cope with the physical, mental and emotional stresses of dealing with adversity.
With springtime in the air and similar artists like Latto on the rise it’s the perfect time to join Loading Magazine to roll something up, relax and catch a vibe like “For when the sky falls.”
