Costa Mesa Rapper D-Taylor Unveils His Engaging New EP, ‘Take 3’
Hailing from Southern California, one of the hardest things to do artistically is to standout in a region where so many stars, past and present, come from, and arguably more problematically, continue to move to. Still, steel sharpens steel and being around this environment can be an advantage to some as they pull from the kinetic energy to help create their own. Coming out of Costa Mesa, rising rapper D-Taylor is one of those artists looking to make his stamp, as he checks into our pages with his new EP, Take 3.
Clocking in at 3-tracks, Take 3 is an engaging project that finds D-Taylor leaning more into the wavy side of things. Throughout the 6-minute runtime, Taylor slices through a trio of thumping, high-energy beats as he gets out his comfort zone to deliver a highly accessible project. Utilizing West Coast inspired production to his advantage, he showcases amazing stamina as he hardly takes a break throughout the project, opting to ditch splashy guest verses for a more calculated singular perspective. The one exception, though, comes in the form of, “Wholesale,” a standout track that features Taylor going back and forth with another exciting So Cal prospect, Airplane James.
