An Interview With Kingsport, Tennessee’s AB SKU!

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
AB SKU: I’m a roadrunner. Spent a lot of time in different places. Very down to earth go getter is how I would describe myself.

Q: Where are you from and what you got into music?
AB SKU: I was born in the town of Kingsport, Tennessee. But I would say I grew up in Burlington NC. My mom moved my sister, brother, and I there when I was in elementary school. What really got me into music was the nights in Tennessee at my grandma’s house playing old records. Followed up with my brother from my pops introducing me to fruity loops.

Q: Who are some of your inspirations?
AB SKU: I would say the bulk of my inspiration comes from everyday life. Things I’ve experienced or seen. But musically I would say Freddie Gibbs, Snoop Dogg, and 36 Mafia.

Q: How did you get your name AB SKU?
AB SKU: They’re both nicknames. One from college AB (A-B) , and one from high school Sku (Schoo). AB is simply an acronym for my name and Sku is a product number, which you can find on any product for sale.

Q: Can you tell us about your project “Fox Talk“?
AB SKU: Fox Talk is a tale of a Lone Fox. It goes through a story of having to grind and get it out the mud from day one. Life has no Handouts! Giving hard lessons embedded in the music with everyday life as a young Fox trying to do right. Going from hard days where I had nothing to current time of taking road trips moving to a different level of life progressing. Breaking down the relations of what makes a true Fox grind and go get it! The content is to inspire anybody and everybody to go get it while they can don’t be scared to risk it.

Q: Was a career in music always the plan for you?
AB SKU: I can honestly say it’s been a part of a bigger picture.

Q: What are some of the biggest lessons you’ve learnt while working in the music industry?
AB SKU: I can’t really say I’ve learned any huge lessons so far being that I’m still on the early end. But I can say the best thing you can do is be authentic to yourself and the situation. And things usually work themselves out.Oh yeah make sure you have a bag cause ain’t nothing free if you’re independent.

Q: Any new releases coming soon?
AB SKU: There is a Fox Talk 2 in the making. It will be special.
