Nkosi Bourne shines on new mixtape ‘Glimpse’

Brooklyn artist Nkosi Bourne has shared a new mixtape called Glimpse. A captivating set of 7 songs that finds Bourne exploring left-field leaning, lo-fi soundscapes and delivering emotionally resonant, focused lyricism, Glimpse is a potent release. It finds Bourne building upon the earnest, organic sound of his singles such as “No BS”, “Positive Affirmations”, and more, for an engaging, thoughtful project.

The production on Glimpse is primarily centred around jazzy, lo-fi soundscapes, but includes much versatility, for a dynamic listen. Songs like “What’s A Little Time?” make effective usage of glitchier, textural instrumentals, whereas the title track “Glimpse” is expansive and silky, with smooth, grooving sonics. The real highlight of the project, however, is Bourne’s skill as a lyricist, as Glimpse demonstrates his keen ability to be emotionally present with listeners and provide relatable, authentic lyrical content, as the tracklist continuously draws the listener in to the world of the artist.

Glimpse is a project that is admirably never afraid to be vulnerable, as Bourne weaves together richly personal, emotive verses atop jazzy, smoky instrumentals. A refreshing dose of underground hip-hop that flirts with left-field stylings, Glimpse is a potent offering and it has us excited for what is coming next from him.
